My clay journey kicked off nearly three years ago when I moved from Seattle to Portland. I took a few classes, made some wonderful friends, and then lucked into the most unexpected (and amazing) studio space—a grandma’s garage, shared with a fellow clay enthusiast. Together, we fumbled, learned, and found our rhythm in the ceramic world.

Now, I have the absolute joy of creating at Pursuit Studios alongside the owner April and a group of truly magnificent ceramicists. And after all this time, I’m finally ready (and so excited!) to share my work with you.

I hope you find something here that brings you as much joy as I had making it!

NICO RODRIGUEZ
Nico Rodriguez is a Puerto Rican ceramic artist & designer currently working in the footwear industry. Her personal work is grounded on the warm colors and rustic textures of her upbringing & heritage.

SAM LEVY
@samlevyclay
Hand-built in Portland, OR, Sam Levy’s ceramics are a natural evolution of her work as an art director, still life photographer, and set dresser. Each piece is inspired by a deep love of tiny ecosystems and memories of playing in the yard as a kid. These clay works are a tribute to playfulness—reimagined for grown-up spaces.

ELISABETH HERRERA-VERY

Currently, I'm working exclusively with reclaimed clay. I'm honored to play a part in our studio's ecosystem as the clay recycler. I use the studio's pug mill to transform our studio's discarded projects into new clay. I'm playing around with the unruly nature of partially marbled reclaimed clay to create woodgrain-like effects. This year in my ceramic practice I've been exploring the wonders of nature with a collection of banana slugs. I hope these simple, charming forms spark joy and curiosity.
