“Hello, my name is Moth, my motto is: 'Inspired people inspire people.'
I have been making art my whole life. My main practice has historically been drawing, my medium pen and ink–until I took a surface design class at Gasworks NYC, a small community clay studio in Brooklyn that is known for its reduction kiln.
I had never worked with clay before and the course was far too advanced for a beginner, but it showed me what you COULD do with ceramics. I realized that with ceramics there is literally an extra dimension to work with, to draw on. I was smitten.
It feels like every year I am learning that there is an entire branch of ceramics I knew nothing about. I love how anyone can play with clay, it has the ability to bring out our inner children, to heal, to align our mind, body, and spirit. It has a skill floor that is in the ground, but a skill ceiling that is in another galaxy.
I hope to kindle a creative spark in everyone.”
