Intermediate Hand-Building Ceramics: Expanding Your Techniques and Creativity
Prerequisite: Hand-Building I or equivalent experience
Take your hand-building abilities to the next level in this intermediate class, where the focus is on refining your skills and experimenting with new equipment and techniques. You'll advance your experience and expand your creative possibilities with coil-building, slab building, pinching, and marbling.
This course offers plenty of freedom for you to design and create your own pieces—whether it’s functional pottery, sculptural, or something inbetween. You’ll receive guidance on 5 class projects, with the last two sessions reserved for glazing.
- Create at least 5 finished pieces, including a pendant lamp project
- Small, intimate class size (maximum 6 students) for personalized instruction
- Unlimited access to open studio included
- Bring your own clay or purchase it directly from the studio
This class offers plenty of flexibility for you to explore your own creative ideas, with individualized support to help you achieve your goals. Perfect for those looking to push their ceramics practice in new directions!

Open Studio access is included with this class. One additional session per week is encouraged for finishing class projects.

Accessibility: Building is not ADA accessible, stairs only at entry. You will also need to take stairs to the third floor.
